Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
2 Corinthians 5:17

Do you know what that means to “jump the Gun?” Well, let me tell you. I have a tendency to do that naturally. I think something is going to happen in a negative way and I react on what I think will happen and then it happens in a good way and I just wasted all that time feeling anxious about absolutely nothing. Or what I am feeling anxious about never even happens.
Like for instance, you build yourself up because you think when you talk to someone about something they have done, you tend to get ready for the fight or argument, but in fact they are very sweet and say, “Oh I can fix that” …
Boom, you just played the whole scenario out in your mind, got all stressed out and then found out it was for nothing. The problem was in your head and was not really a problem after all. Is that trusting God I wonder? No not really, it is trusting what I think instead of believing what the word of God says.
So now I am going to tell on myself,,, sometimes we react now because of the way life had treated us before. I had a hard time trusting. Anyone… I really tried. I felt like I trusted Doug, my husband, I knew in my heart he was trustworthy. Well, one day he was getting calls on his phone. He never said a word about who it was, or what they wanted. He would just talk for a while and then hang up and never say a word. This went on all day long. (by the way this was years ago, I have learned a lot since then) but because of my past, I started thinking, “who is calling him” what is he hiding from me, my brain kept telling me, here it goes again, I thought I could trust him but again I was wrong. Well, I went out there and I told him just what I thought about the whole secrete calls he was getting. He just looked at me and that was it. He didn’t even fight back. For sure he was guilty about something, but what… then my phone rang and it was my sister-in-law. She said don’t forget it’s Doug’s birthday today. You see I am terrible about remembering dates. Oh my gosh, he was getting birthday wishes with all the calls. He never said a word. What a jerk I turned out to be.
Sometimes our mind takes us on trips we never sign up for. That is why the bible says the mind is the battlefield. We jump the gun. All the time.
We get so much anxiety over things that never take place or things we are completely wrong about.
We need to get a hold on our thoughts and give them to God.
The word says in 1 Peter 5:6-7 (TLB)
If you will humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, in His good time He will lift you up. Let Him have all your worries and cares, for He is always thinking about your and watching everything that concerns you.
Then right after that look what it says:
Vv 8
Be careful- watch out for attacks from Satan, your great enemy. He prowls around like a hungry roaring lion, looking for some victim to tear apart.
Vv 9 A
Stand firm when He attacks. Trust the Lord
Okay, so wait, first Satan places worries in your head, then it’s your choice… do I go with that and believe what the enemy is telling me or do cast my worries on God because He cares for me. If we could just stop there. Satan throws the worry, boom, we send it back to him by using the word of God. Keeping our mind on what the promises of God are.
Or…
Do we take the worry, (might not even be real) and run with it? Let ourselves get all upset before we know the facts. React in the same way we always have. Negative… Jumping the Gun
We tend to deal with something that could happen instead of something that has happened. Let try waiting till it happens then we can deal with it. I know I have plenty to deal with today that has happened without borrowing trouble for tomorrow that may not ever even happen. Wait, what does the word say about that… oh ya,,,
Matthew 6:34 (TLB)
So don’t be worried about tomorrow. God will take care of your tomorrow too. Live one day at a time.
So, let’s put all this together, if we would just wait, have a little patience, see what is really going on, get out of our heads, basically, trust God no matter what it looks like and have a little faith. You know the faith of a mustard seed can move mountains.
I hope this helps someone today, if you need prayer or ministry we are always here to help. Love a blessings
